![]() Crespaia is the ambition of passionate producer, Rossano Sgammini, who is full of energy and ideas, but who also cherishes the Marche's ancient winemaking values and traditions. Established in 2011, this picturesque estate is perched among olive trees and vines in the rolling hills surrounding the village of Fano on the Adriatic coast.
"Crespaia" combines the Italian words expressing the rippling of the sea (crespe) and the honest integrity of the farm (aia). Such defines this lovely region and the respect Rossano has for his work and his heritage. After purchasing the estate, Rossano immediately set about replanting vines, restoring and improving the cellar, and improving viticultural practices. The vineyards are worked organically (with official organic certification to come) and all grapes are hand harvested in small containers to protect their quality. Attention to quality is given from vineyard to cellar to make the finest expression of wines from this part of the Marche. This 10 hectare estate makes 2 white wines and 1 red: Bianchello del Metauro DOC, Bianchello del Metauro Superiore DOC, and a Sangiovese from the DOC Colli Pesaresi. Bianchello makes pretty wines that show white fruits and flowers with the classic Italian almond note on the finish. The Sangiovese is fresh and lively with great precision, depth and purity. Rossano is a man of energy, determination, creativity and passion. These qualities are reflected in the character of his wines. To taste Rossano's Crespaia wines, please contact us. |
