Castel Sallegg (Alto Adige)
Alto Adige is nestled in the stunningly beautiful northeast of Italy, at the base of the Dolomite Alps. Surrounded by Austria to the north, Friuli to the east and the Veneto to the south, it’s here that Count von Kuenburg and his family produce a lovely and elegant range of wines.
The family winemaking history dates back to 1851, and over the years while vineyard and cellar management techniques have modernized, the family’s respect for the land and the region’s history and culture has remained steadfast. Castel Sallegg wines are a product of this confluence of tradition and modernity. The climate of Alto Adige is continental with hot days and cool nights producing grapes renowned for great depth of flavor and crisp acidity. The family works three different vineyard sites in the hills surrounding Lake Caldaro, each with its own microclimate. This allows the family to produce a variety of wines, each capturing the unique terroir to great effect. Please contact us to taste these wines. |
